Event Schedule:  Tournament details to be posted as available

Overview: Founded in 1982, we are a like-minded group of senior men's golfers (over 50) who organize events each month at various member clubs.

Affiliated Clubs: Atlanta National, Berkeley Hills, Big Canoe, Bridgemill, Brookfield, CC of Roswell, Iron Horse, Eagle Watch, Fairways of Canton, Indian Hills, Laurel Springs, Olde Atlanta, Polo, Rivermont, White Columns, Windermere, and Woodmont.

Events: NASMGA hosts one golf event per month at one of our affiliated clubs from March through October, and occasionally a Play Day at non-affiliated clubs. The typical event is an ABCD team format with live scoring and full Golf Genius support.

Matchplay:  Each member club competes as a team.   These club teams are organized randomly into three “pods” at the beginning of the season.   Within each pod, there will be six rounds of home and away matches throughout the spring and summer. Eight top teams across the three pods then advance to the championship and consolation bracket matches in the fall to determine the overall standings.   Overall, more than 1300 individual rounds are played during the season to crown a champion.

The annual Tournament Chair Meeting, Match Play Meeting, and March Board Meeting are now all in the books.   Here are the major updates and highlights of the changes being implemented in 2026.

Tournaments:  The tournament schedule and formats have been updated in the event table below.   As the event websites are completed, links will be activated in the table, indicated by a change in the event name from black to blue.   There are a few changes in tournament procedures in 2026:

  • The signup close date will be moved from 5 days before the tournament to 3 days before.   We hope this will help reduce the number of late cancellations.   As in past years, no refund will be issued for late cancellations or no-shows.
  • We will be using USGA allowances for events in 2026.   This allowance will vary based on format and will be highlighted on the event's website.
  • Pace of Play remains an area of focus.  We will be meeting with the pro at each club to discuss POP issues, including course setup, appropriate double-up holes, course navigation, and on-time starts.  We will also use Alternative to Stroke and Distance and allow Provisional Balls for penalty areas to help move things along.   Look for a separate release detailing the results of the recent POP survey and further action items in the near future.

Match Play:

  • The player's choice to move up or back one rated tee from the default tee for his group has been made a permanent part of the rules.   Last year was a trial year, and the captains felt it was a worthwhile change.
  • We are implementing a hard stop for all matches on 8/31 to ensure we have adequate time to finish the playoffs before the weather deteriorates.
  • As with tournaments, USGA allowances will be applied in the calculation of player handicaps.   The allowance for four ball match play is 90%.   Full indexes will be used in applying any other rule.
  • The number of ties will be used as a third criterion to break season ties, following head-to-head results and the number of wins.
