Event Schedule:  Tournament details to be posted as available

Overview: Founded in 1982, we are a like-minded group of senior men's golfers (over 50) who organize events each month at various member clubs.

Affiliated Clubs: Atlanta National, Berkeley Hills, Big Canoe, Bridgemill, Brookfield, CC of Roswell, Iron Horse, Eagle Watch, Fairways of Canton, Indian Hills, Laurel Springs, Olde Atlanta, Polo, Rivermont, White Columns, Windermere, and Woodmont.

Events: NASMGA hosts one golf event per month at one of our affiliated clubs from March through October, and occasionally a Play Day at non-affiliated clubs. The typical event is an ABCD team format with live scoring and full Golf Genius support.

Matchplay:  Each member club competes as a team.   These club teams are organized randomly into three “pods” at the beginning of the season.   Within each pod, there will be six rounds of home and away matches throughout the spring and summer. Eight top teams across the three pods then advance to the championship and consolation bracket matches in the fall to determine the overall standings.   Overall, more than 1300 individual rounds are played during the season to crown a champion.

The board has been considering a realignment of responsibilities at the Officer Level during the past two board meetings.   A motion to approve the changes was approved at the Windermere meeting last week.   In summary:

  • We are creating a Tournament Director Officer position to act as a central point of event ownership at the officer level.   This will not supplant the local Tournament Coordinators managing events at each club, but will give them a single point of contact for planning, questions, and issues.   This will mirror the current structure for Matchplay, which has had an overarching Director for many years.  In its simplest terms, the Tournament Director will be singularly responsible for the end-to-end quality and execution of our monthly events.
  • The Vice President will continue to focus on future event venues, playdays, and schedules.   Current Vice President event-execution tasks will be transitioned to the Tournament Director.  The Vice President will continue to direct our Pace of Play efforts.
  • To further align responsibilities, the Golf Genius work will be redistributed and report to the appropriate director.   Match play and Tournament setup and communications work will be under the direction of the Match Play and Tournament Directors respectively.   The Treasurer will assume management of Stripe credit card processing, while the Secretary will manage the NASMGA home page.   The Webmaster position, which was essential to the transition from WIX to Golf Genius, will be phased out.

While these changes in responsibility will not officially be implemented until year-end, the realignment of duties decision was a prerequisite for the 2027 volunteer recruiting process, which will begin shortly.   You can read the updated Bylaws and Policies & Procedures documents reflecting these changes by following the Governance tab above.

We have held four tournaments so far this year: Woodmont, Bridgemill, Chestatee, and Indian Hills.  For the results, click the tournament in the table below and open the "results" menu.   Next up is Windermere on July 13.   Signups are open until July 10.    Pace of Play at Indian Hills was 4 1/2 hours, extending our streak of good POP rounds.

We are five months into match play.   As of today, Berkeley Hills leads the Masters division with 48 points, but Fairways of Canton is close behind, having played one fewer match.   Atlanta National has just edged past Eagle Watch in the PGA division, and Iron Horse has a commanding lead in the Open division.  You can monitor your team's standings on the Matchplay webpage.

Thanks for your support of NASMGA, and we will see you on the course!
